Ritchey plc is one of the country’s largest and best known suppliers of animal identification products which are distributed throughout the UK and many countries overseas.
Ritchey knew that, to meet the increased demand for traceability within the UK food chain, DEFRA was planning to introduce a new IT system to handle the millions of unique ID records for animal registration.
Ritchey recognized that the DEFRA system would offer considerable opportunities for cost saving throughout its own vertical markets, and decided to investigate the viability of creating its own web-based system to integrate with DEFRA.
The company awarded a consultancy contract to NetConstruct, to assess the project benefits and costs, and scope the technical requirements. Ritchey went on to appoint NetConstruct to build and host the .NET application.
Consultancy and development was completed in five months, went into immediate use and has delivered a high return on investment.
