Fountains Abbey site is a flagship for The National Trust
May 01 , 2008
Fountains Abbey, one of the National Trust's most significant estates, was founded in 1132 by 13 Benedictine monks seeking a simpler life. Today it is one of the country's most popular visitor attractions.
NetConstruct, as Fountains Abbey's web developer since 2000, has been proud to contribute to that success and, working closely with the National Trust's resident team, has designed the new Fountains Abbey website which has just gone live.
Fountains Abbey with Studley Royal Water Garden, near Ripon in North Yorkshire, is of outstanding historic and aesthetic importance.
Attracting over 300,000 visitors a year, Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal is the National Trust's most visited pay-for-entry property. It was declared a World Heritage site in 1987.
NetConstruct's Simon Blake said: "In our experience tourist attractions like Fountains Abbey draw a lot of traffic to their website as people pre-plan their visits. A key aim for the new Fountains Abbey site has been to highlight the range of attractions, events and corporate hospitality available - and make visiting Fountains Abbey a pleasure even before you get there".
