Selling fine art and precious items through over forty auctions each year, Tennants is one of the UK’s leading auction houses. Each auction can have 2,000 or more items on offer, with buyers attracted from all over the world.

NetConstruct was appointed to replace Tennants existing website and take this well established auction house’s use of the web to a completely new level.

At the heart of the website, our software engineers designed a new customised database for better management and search of items to be auctioned, which is fed from Tennants back-office system.  It allows buyers to browse several auctions, viewing the items with a built-in zoom feature and condition reports.

Buyers can bid for items online, set up a ‘My Watch List’ to tracks lots through the auctions and keep a personal archive of their progress. The ‘fine art wish list’ provides potential bidders with an opportunity to flag their desired lots for easy reference.

The website database is currently handling around 100,000 items but, despite this number, is exceptionally easy to use.

“Reflecting Tennants huge international customer base, the site is provided in six languages. Behind the scenes, the catalogue is database driven and fed directly from Tennants back office system. ”

Reflecting Tennants huge international customer base, the website is provided in six languages including Chinese and Russian.

The Tennants website includes a video introduction by Rodney Tennant, the managing director, and fascinating video coverage of one of their Fine Art three day auctions.

Finally we built a mobile site for Tennants using our BluJam framework, to help buyers on the move to access the auction catalogue and place bids.

The Tennants website is built in the market-leading Kentico content management system, for which NetConstruct is a Gold Partner and ranked in the top 3 of over 60 UK digital agencies approved by Kentico.

The site is hosted by us on the Rackspace platform. We use Cloud computing for cost-effective management and rapid uploading of the 100,000+ images on the database.
