Staff at NetConstruct have been pitting their cookery skills against each other for the last six months, in a charity cook off challenge that raised £903.40 for Cancer Research UK.

The company split into six teams, with each team cooking lunch for the office on a monthly rotation and diners paying what they felt the fodder was worth. Inspiration came from food themes across the world, including India, Spain, Mexico, China and the USA.

The account management team’s USA theme raised the most money, thanks to a menu which included bacon-wrapped grilled cheese sandwiches, mac and cheese, ribs and wings, and key lime pie. Their prize: to choose the charity - Cancer Research UK, the world's largest independent cancer research charity, which conducts research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease.

“We are thrilled to be able to make a donation to help combat this disease that affects so many,” said Jonathan Healey, Managing Director at NetConstruct. “And watching people discover their inner Jamie Oliver or Nigella Lawson and get creative in the kitchen really injected a lot of fun into the proceedings. There were a few team rivalries and the heat will certainly be on for our next round of cook offs.”
